Shot some studio shots for a look book, for Fashion Designer - Holly-ann Ladd. Not usually my choice of photography but it was an interesting day and I think they came out ok… I’ll update this with her website soon, so keep your eyes as peeled as your grandfathers apples. I’ll also be updating this page very soon with some other recent work of mine. So look out for that too!
Some shots from over the weekend. More from this project will be going up over time.
Some work from an old project that was shot last year, but I was busy scanning so I thought i’d throw it up on here…

Operation Scorpion
“Operation Scorpion is a new constabulary initiative to relentlessly pursue criminals and bring them to justice. It has already led to the arrest of scores of burglars, robbers, vehicle thieves and drug dealers. Activity is focussed on those causing the most harm in our communities and you too can play a part by reporting suspicious activity on Crimestoppers (0800 555 111) as well as securing your property: Lock all doors before you go out and when you go to bed, and ensure all windows are secure before leaving your home remember PVCU doors are only properly locked if you lift the handle AND use the key.”
The station closed its doors for the last time in early 2011 due to financial pressures; the policemen were to operate from a police van tucked away in a car park. Crime has risen since the closure of the station and continues to do so. This project is a document of those affected by crime since the closure of the police station and the areas in which crime has taken place. Those that have been affected are angry with the lack of police presence; the rest of the community continues to worry.
The Way The River Runs
The river has become stagnant with age; the occasional ripple of water occurs from the last of the creatures that live there. No water passes the locks, it simply bounces between the walls that contain it. At one point the locks were fresh; the water was flowing and 150’000 tons of coal were ascending and descending upstream by 1812. By 1905 however the canals had been taken over by the Great Western Railway and commercial load carrying had all but ceased. As years have gone by, the Canal has been overtaken by the roots of the trees and the algae that form on the lifeless water. The idea of this river being used in a resourceful way would rarely cross the mind of those who walk by the side of it.
When I met five retired men who were giving their time to restore the canal, I was informed of the mass transportation it was once used for. After walking up the canal and realising the tranquillity it held I found this hard to imagine. I like the idea of the years of strain the lock has held being concealed by the nature, but I also liked the idea of this strength that it once held being returned.
This project is about the present silence and perception of the canal, but just as much about the years of human work behind the greenery. People see this as a natural water flow, yet these five men will restore it to something controlled and tamed.
